Mother’s Day Brunch at Home

If you’re visiting from Vintage Society Co. welcome to Blogger’s Best! I’ve teamed up with some fellow bloggers to share Mother’s Day brunch ideas. There’s amazing inspiration, so be sure to check them out, all linked at the end of this blog.

This year Mother’s Day will look a little different as we’re home during this time of quarantine. It just means we have to get creative with birthdays, holidays and Mother’s Day is no exception. I share so many recipes on the blog that would be great for a Mother’s Day brunch but I wanted to do something that is super simple where the entire family could participate with no cooking involved and making use of whatever’s on hand. A casual brunch at home is so easy to put together and what a great way to bring out a few of those fancy platters and special dishes. Just because we’re not currently entertaining, doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate and treat ourselves at home, which of course might include what I like to call a Momosa or two!

Speaking of Momosa’s, I used what I had available which was champagne mixed with orange juice and cranberry juice. As with all my food styling, I like to include elements of the meal or drink as part of the presentation. I tossed in orange slices and frozen cranberries which work as ice cubes on their own too. Get out some nice glasses and it’s an instant celebration!

As mentioned above, the idea behind this brunch was for the entire family to be able to get involved and nothing is easier than tea sandwiches! I used a three tier tray and filled it with open faced cucumber cream cheese crostini, turkey and cheese pinwheels and assorted jam sandwiches.

To make the cream cheese crostini, I used a vegetable peeler to slice cucumber ribbons and twisted them over the cream cheese. For the pinwheels, I spread some garlic aioli over a quesadilla, layered some turkey deli and cheddar cheese slices and filled in with some mini dill cucumbers rolled and sliced into pinwheels. And for the jam sandwiches, I used a rolling pin to flatten out some toast bread, cut into long strips and filled with jam.

There are so many tea sandwich ideas, the possibilities are endless. You could also use fun cookie cutters to make different shape toast bread sandwiches.

In addition to the sandwiches, I just added some prebought tarts, pizza buns and fresh fruit.

For the brunch set up, I kept it simple and used only faux florals because I don’t have any fresh flowers at the moment. I filled in the tiered tray and platters with some flowers and loosely placed some along on the table. For the tablecloth, I actually used an old lace curtain I had which adds to the light and airy feel of the tablescape. I pulled out some cake stands to add varying heights. Along with some white cotton napkins, this was the perfect occasion to use my husband’s grandmother’s dishes which have the prettiest pattern and ideal for a Spring brunch.

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all the mama’s and families out there a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration. I know these are unusual times, but keeping on with those special occasions especially now, will truly make for the best memories.  Up next on the Blog hop is Dans Le Lakehouse with some great brunch ideas.

Cheers!

xx Nancy
