Valentine’s Day Tablescape

Welcome to the Decorating with Love Blog Hop! Up before me was Ash from Dash Lifestyles and all the others are linked at the end of this post.

During the transition from the long winter months to Spring, it’s nice to inject a little colour and fun and Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion. My inspiration for this year’s Valentine’s Day tablescape started with these darling pink bowls from IKEA that are very budget friendly at a couple dollars a piece, plus they’re practical for everyday use. You don’t need an entire set of new dishes to create a seasonal tablescape, all it takes is a little creativity, some flowers, and repurposing things you already have. Speaking of flowers, the beautiful arrangement used here comes from a local flower shop called Amborella. All of their creations are breathtaking, I wanted greens with soft shades of pink and these were the perfect fit for my romantic tablescape vision.

As with any table setting, you need to start with some type of tablecloth or runner. My signature style is to think outside of the box and go with something different, in this case I used soft sheer curtains which I had lying around and I left them draping over the sides of the table. My goal for this look was to keep it very organic and this fabric adds such a light and airy touch, creases and all! I wanted the flower arrangement to be the focal point so kept the remainder of the centerpiece very simple by using pink candles and thrifted candle holders.

For the actual place setting, I layered some white rustic looking dishes I already had and paired it with my favourite gold flatware, an awesome Amazon find. I layered in some pretty stemware, including both a wine and ice wine glass for a Valentines’s Day toast. Next, I used white linen napkins and instead of placing them with a napkin ring I tied a knot to keep it rustic looking and it makes for a fun ‘twist’ just using a standard napkin. All I did, was tie the ends into the centre and then I loosened the knot a bit.

To finish off the look, I placed a white ranuncula flower on the side of the napkin along with a few more flowers and stems loosely scattered on the table. And there you have a simple setting for a romantic dinner! Of course this set up would also work well for a special family dinner, Galentine’s celebration or even a pretty bridal shower.

Wishing you all a happy Valentine’s Day!

xx Nancy
