How to Style Bedroom Nightstands

Back in the Fall of 2020, we took part in the One Room Challenge and completed the master bedroom makeover. We added panel moulding, new rug, sconces, chandelier, curtains, and bedding. The one thing that wasn’t completed were the nightstands and for good reason. I fell in love with these gorgeous nightstands from Mobilia but the shipment was delayed. Now that they’ve arrived let me tell you, it was absolutely worth the wait! I’m going to take you through all the details of these nightstands along with styling tips!

Here’s a look at the Sayuri nightstands from Mobilia. They are black and made from poplar wood, the perfect addition to this cozy space. This master bedroom is all about the serene vibes and clean look which is why I chose these nightstands. The straight lines and textures perfectly complement the rest of the room. The legs are capped off in a beautiful rustic copper finish and I love that there is both concealed storage and a display area.

Speaking of storage, the drawer has a cane front panel and is lined in a gorgeous black velvet. It’s a deep drawer offering ample storage for all your essentials. Also, l love that it has soft-close sides.

I think the biggest issue finding the perfect nightstand has to do with size. It needs to be the right scale and not overpower the room. These ones measure 20″ x 17″ x 22″ which is a great balance with our bed frame and other pieces in the bedroom. The open display space also creates some airy vibes. The ideal spot to store some books or pretty decor pieces. Making it easy to access, fun to style and switch out. I styled ours with some favourite vintage finds including a silver tray with garland beads and a pretty decorative dish.

Here’s a look at how I styled his & hers! On the left side is mine where I like to keep books, my diffuser and a plant. Adding a picture frame also adds great height while still leaving room to focus on the beautiful sconces above.

On the right is my husband’s side, he likes it clean with just a few things, a wooden storage box and the alarm clock. For both, I used marble coasters which were an easy DIY (using Carrara marble backsplash tiles). Another tip is to get books from thrifting or even the dollar store and remove the covers to display the cover. Make sure to chose a colour that will go with the space and also look for a pretty fabric. These items are both pretty, functional and easy to clean and maintain.

As you can see, I’ve gone for a neutral look while bringing in several textures and cozy layers. There’s a basket on the corner which helps tie everything together and brings in another opportunity for textures. It’s also a great place for some extra storage!

Overall, the mix of styles adds interest and warmth creating a calming retreat, exactly what’s needed to relax and end the day. For further details on Sayuri and other nightstands, please visit Mobilia.
