Let’s Decorate the Outdoors for FALL

I can’t believe summer is over but Fall is actually my most favourite time of year! And nothing kicks off those autumn vibes like candles, throws and all things cozy. As with all other seasons, I like to keep things simple for Fall. Our weather here in Calgary, Alberta is so unpredictable but this September has been remarkable!! I plan to take full advantage of the unseasonably warm temps because I know all too well that snow is just around the corner. Since the recent backyard makeover and DIY sectional we did continues to be one of our favourite places to hang out, here’s a look at my outdoor space all decked out for Fall with mums and pumpkins making their first appearance of the season.

Although the mums seem to be out in full force earlier and earlier each year, they never last long in our neck of the woods. I try to buy them in stages so I get a little extra longevity out of them. The only saving grace is that by Halloween they look creepy as ever and I’m able to incorporate them into the Halloween decor! Here I’ve layered a combination of burgundy and complimenting rusty red mums. I simply reused my summer garden pots and the colourful mums pop beautifully against the black. I picked up a few mini pumpkins which are readily available early in the season. Not only do these cuties keep well but they are inexpensive, these were each under $2 at my local grocery store and will soon enough evolve into a delicious pumpkin treat of some sort!

I also added a small DIY pail with little faux gourds which can just make its way indoors eventually. And as I say goodbye to my herb filled terracotta pots from summer I filled a few with some faux mini pumpkins. Another decor piece that would look great indoors or on the porch.

I’ll leave you with a few more pics of my Fall decorated backyard space. As always you can find me on Instagram @simplystyledinspo for all things decor and DIY including the sectional featured here and the white enamel pail.

I look forward to cozy evenings by the fire pit and of course more DIY project!s! Enjoy the rest of the tour and Happiest Fall!
