Dried Orange Garland

In keeping with my style to try and decorate throughout the seasons with natural elements and items from around the house, I put together this quick and easy dried orange garland. I love the look of dried oranges and love using it throughout my holiday decor. This diy garland only required some oranges and pine branches which I already had in our yard, so it was very inexpensive to make. The dried orange slices along with the pine also add the perfect holiday scent.

What you’ll need:

  • oranges
  • needle and white thread or clear fishing wire
  • pine or cedar branches

To dry the oranges:

1. Cut oranges into 1/4″ slices and place onto a cookie sheet.

2. Bake at 200° F for 2-3 hours or until completely dry.

To make the garland:

  1. Using a needle, thread all of the dried orange slices to create the garland.
  2. Secure the garland in place where it will be displayed with some tape on the ends.
  3. Carefully add in the pine branches and tie in place with the thread.

Once you’ve filled in all of the pine, straighten out the orange slices and tuck them in behind some of the smaller branches. Finish off with some candles as shown here on the mantel and you could even fill in with pinecones for a fuller look. This super simple diy has a rustic feel that will look great all season long even after the holidays.
