There’s nothing like fresh doughnuts as a treat or for a special occasion. I actually made these for Easter as a break from tradition this year. What I like about this recipe is that these are baked instead of fried and they’re oh so easy to make! You can change up the decorations any way you like or customize for holidays.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
3/4 cup buttermilk
6 tablespoons melted butter, warm
Glaze:
1 cup sifted icing sugar
2 tablespoons milk
Sprinkles
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F
Grease 2 doughnut pans
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Whisk eggs in a medium bowl for a few seconds, then add buttermilk and the warm butter until smooth.
Add into the dry ingredients.
Combine together, but don’t overmix.
Spoon batter into large piping bag, snip off the tip and pipe into the pans, 3/4 full.
Bake 10-11 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack, before glazing.
For the glaze, whisk icing sugar and milk together and decorate with sprinkles. Add additional icing sugar if glaze is too thin.
